Leave-on Hair Treatments

I'm slowly starting to get more familiar with the types of different hair products and I learned about 2 types of leave-on hair treatments; one is oil type, and the other is milk type. So, other than knowing that one is milk and one is oil, what is the difference? Milk, as you can imagine, gives moisture. Same as if you have dry skin, we put lotion to moisturize your dried-out skin. As for oil. They are more of a coating for your hair strands, that keeps the existing moisture in! But a word of warning, you must be careful with the amount of oil you apply to your hair, over-applying will block out the good nutrients (like air) and will give the opposite effect!!

And if you wish to use irons to style your hair, it's best to apply after you style it. If you want to put a coating treatment before using irons you can find those protective base sprays or oils that are specially meant for heat styling, if not you might fry your hair strands and you wouldn't want that /laughs/

Another thing to note is that due to the nature of oils, they will oxidize after some time and will make your hair hard and dry if you do not wash them off properly. For that, you must shampoo your hair properly when you do (there is also a method to shampoo your hair properly but I will share that next time~!)

Understanding their properties will give you a better idea of which treatment type to use and when to use them. I have slightly dry hair due to bleaching and we live in a humid country with loads of direct sunlight so I use both (first milk, then oil)! Hope this info was useful! ~Nez
